This is the first quilt that I made. It's a variable star that is hand pieced and hand quilted. I got the pattern from a book that my mom had borrowed from someone. The book was about hand piecing and said it was the true way to make a quilt. Ha the truly hard long way. I finished this quilt about 10 years ago. And I must admit that hand piecing makes the center of the 8 point star perfect. I used up the leftover scraps on the border of flying geese. At first I used the quilt as a bedspread. Now I try to preserve it more so it will last a longer time with out signs of wear.
